Birthday dinner at this absolutely amazing Indonesia restaurant with impeccable service...

As a table we ordered the Rijsttafel - The Sultan and I - a tasting menu in five courses with wine pairings...

chicken wonton
roasted duck salad - steamed fish pate in peanut chili sauce - soft shell crab, mango and pineapple
spicy soup with chicken, quail egg and glass noodles
lamb sate with Indonesian lime and soy sauce - chicken sate with peanut sauce
Hmmm... appears this is the only photo I have of the fifth course -

  • spicy fish steamed in banana leaves Balinese-style
  • Classic rendang - spicy beef Padang-style with turmeric leaves
  • Domba kecap - lamb and chili in a sweet and hot sauce
  • Udang blado - spicy prawns with fiery red sauce
  • Tempeh - in a Javanese sauce
  • Urak arik - stir fried veg and eggs
