School…

Our first week we were on the European summer schedule - dinner at 9:30, bed time at 11pm.  This week we’ve started the painful process of getting the girls into bed earlier so that getting up for school next week is not so shocking.

The girls have mixed feelings about school… it is school after all!   Monday (August 19) We go with the girls for a one hour orientation but Gabby stays for the day. Tuesday will be a full day for all .  They go outside every day sun, rain or snow.  There are seven floors to the school from the basement (PE and music) to the top floor (attic looking space) with art and drama.  They will be toast after a 20 min. walk each way to school and up and down stairs all day.

Today we went shopping for ‘indoor shoes’, the shoes the girls will leave at school and change into each day when they get to school and change out of when they go outside.  No outfits will be planned around shoes!

The second week of school each Middle School grade goes on a bonding retreat for 4 days/3 nights.  The 7th grade is going to Gotland in Southern Sweden.  The director was so matter of fact in telling Gabby that 'first they'll take a bus, then they'll take a boat for 4 hours.  They'll stay in huts, play games, hike, etc.  The 60 7th graders come back bonded and have a great year.  Sounds awesome!
